Let me just start by saying that Myths of the Near Future is one of my favorite albums of all time. Since its release I’ve been waiting patiently for a sophomore album. I was still patient even after hearing that Polydor (their record label) made the band rerecord most of the album because it was too experimental. TOO EXPERIMENTAL?! I hope they didn’t just throw away those original recordings because I would love to hear Klaxons being too experimental.

Finally, my time has come! Or their time, I guess. A new Klaxons album, Surfing the Void, is on its way, set for August 23rd. Check out the two songs floating around the interwebz. “Flashover” was a good start. It has typical Klaxons elements like lyrics of extradimensional wonders and a sort of alarming dark sound that you hear in songs like “Magick”. It’s “Echoes” that I feel really made the wait worth it, though. It just clicks with me the way songs like “Gravity’s Rainbow” and “Golden Skans” did three years ago. Though the track below is a radio rip it’s still of pretty great quality. Listen and judge for yourself.
